Exploring Bangalore #1: Ragigudda Sri Prasanna Anjaneyaswamy Temple and Gufha Restaurant

After a long time, we went exploring our own city. The destination was Ragigudda Sri Prasanna Anjaneyaswamy Temple in Jayanagar

The main deity of the temple is Lord Hanuman, and the main temple is situated on a hillock where you have to ascend 50-70 steps. A lift is also there but we didn’t use it. There is a smaller temple at the base, housing Lord Ganesha, and other deities, where we first paid our respects.

REACHING THERE

The temple is situated at a distance of around 3 km from Jayanagar metro station. Car parking is a problem around this temple. Even autos were hard to find, and we successfully booked through Uber after many auto drivers refused to go to our destination.

ENTRY FEE:

None

TIMINGS:

We went at around 6 pm on a Saturday and it was open. It is probably closed in the afternoon so please check before going

FOOD @ GUFHA RESTAURANT

After darshan, we got Puliogare for prasadam. It was really tasty, and we believe it is served every Saturday

After darshan, we again struggled to get an auto, to take us to Gufha restaurant at the President Hotel in Jayanagar.

The restaurant has cave themed interiors with waiters dressed as forest rangers.

The food was amazing. They have a huge variety of Indian food, especially tikkas and tandoori fare. We had Afghani chicken, ajwaini machhli tikka and mutton dum biryani. All dishes were amazing. We didn’t really like their shorba and masala papad

The quantity was good and food was really tasty. The prices are decent. The place seems popular with families as well because we saw many people coming in with kids and babies .

Overall it was a nice half day outing.

You can also add the Ganesha temple near Jayanagar metro station to your outing itinerary
